Meet Adam
I’ve lived in Westport for the past 10 years, and while I grew up in Fairfield, I’m a fourth-generation Westport resident. My wife, Lindsey, and I are raising our two children here, both of whom attend Westport public schools, and we share our home with our energetic Rhodesian Ridgeback, Poppy. Like so many families, we care deeply about the future of this community.
Professionally, I’ve spent my career as a writer, creative strategist, and entrepreneur, leading campaigns and building businesses that bring people together through ideas and innovation. That work has taught me how to listen closely, balance different perspectives, and create solutions that serve the greater good: skills I believe are essential in public service.
I’m running for RTM in District 3 because I want to make sure Westport continues to thrive. I will fight to maintain the high educational standards of our schools, protect our environment so our town remains beautiful, and ensure that every voice in our community is heard and respected.
My Four Commitments
Education Excellence
Protect and enhance the high standards of Westport’s schools, ensuring every student has the resources and opportunities to thrive.
Environmental Stewardship
Preserve Westport’s beauty and natural resources through smart, sustainable policies that honor our shared home.
Community Voice
Every resident deserves to be heard and respected. I’ll be accessible, responsive, and a true advocate for District 3.
Radical Empathy
Lead with compassion and openness, making decisions rooted not just in data but in understanding people’s lived experiences.
Why I’m Running
For too long, I was passive about local government. I followed along from the sidelines, voiced opinions, and sometimes posted them online, but I wasn’t truly engaging. Running for RTM is my way of stepping up for my neighbors and doing the real work of civic life.
When I went door-to-door to gather signatures, I expected awkward conversations and polite brush-offs. What I found instead were open doors and fellow Westporters eager to discuss the community. Neighbors invited me in, poured coffee, and shared concerns about traffic, the challenges of keeping Westport affordable, protecting our environment, and ensuring our schools remain the best in the state. These weren’t abstract issues. They were real, lived experiences, spoken across kitchen tables.
Halfway through, it hit me: I wasn’t just collecting names, I was carrying voices. The hopes, frustrations, and aspirations of my community were being entrusted to me. That’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.
This campaign is about more than yard signs or ballot lines. It’s about representing you with honesty, creativity, and compassion. My background as a creative strategist has taught me how to listen carefully, connect ideas, and find solutions that work. My upbringing, as the son of a teacher, has instilled in me a deep respect for education and the vital role it plays in shaping our community’s future. And my commitment to radical empathy means I will always approach leadership by listening first, rejecting hate speech and division, and seeking to understand my neighbors before I act.
That’s what this campaign is about. Representing you. And if elected, that’s exactly what I’ll do.
The Red Barn Project
A few years ago, I proposed an idea that would revitalize the old Red Barn and create something that honors the past while bringing a modern benefit to the community. Ultimately, it didn’t move forward because the Westport/Weston YMCA had other plans for the site. However, this is an example of the creative and outside-the-box thinking I’ll bring to the RTM to find solutions that enhance our wonderful town.
You can view or download the proposal here.
My Campaign Logo
I’ve known local illustrator and designer Chuck Borgerding for almost ten years. I’ve seen him create some truly fantastic pieces for advertising clients and exceptional illustrations for other projects. Chuck, no doubt seeing me struggle with Adobe Illustrator, offered to pitch in and create a campaign logo from scratch - for free. What he came up with, in my estimation, was perfect.
The design is eye-catching, bold, and stands out from the staid logos that you’ll find populating public spaces next to roads over the next few months. Additionally, I feel the hand-drawn elements reflect the personal nature of my campaign. I encourage you to check out Chuck’s work here. And if you’d like a sign for your front yard, send me a note and I’ll drop one off!
Let’s Talk
I want this campaign to be a conversation, not a monologue. The best way I can represent District 3 is by hearing directly from the people who live here. If you have questions, ideas, or concerns—big or small—I’d love to hear them. Please don’t hesitate to send me an email. Your voice matters, and I want to carry it with me.
